Boston Tech Spaces
Overview

This project was brought to me by a CRE broker who wanted to create a showcase and lead generating site. He provided a stack of property brochure flyers from various competitor CRE business' in the area as well as his own. What was expressed to me was to develop a site that could advertise all these growing property listings in the Boston area, focusing on space in the startup tech community looking for office locations. However due to the fact that other firms are handling these other spaces elsewhere and not part of his firms portfolio we need to document a disclaimer on every listing for legal reasons. Based on requests they would get he would match them up best to what is offered in the company's portfolio of properties.

High Fidelity Designs

Main component to layout was to have a lead generator form available with as much visibility as possible to utilize as a marketing tool to acquire new clients. As new properties would nbe listed we would use and infinity scroll rther than pageination, parallax imagery was used for each neighborhood category template page.

/ PERSONA'S

USERS / AUDIENCE

So who are buying homes near the sea shore of New Jersey? Well, from what we found in a bit of research, they come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of reasons for choosing to live within this coastal area. So with this information in hand we created persona’s cards to keep in mind who the audience is.

/ REFLECTION

What did I learn from this project?

Think the hardest part of the project was figuring out how to categorize these listings unlike how our corporate site does and many other CRE competitors do so. There was only one other site that was similar in behavior but it was more-so like a blog so there was not much to compare with competition. So idea here was to classifiy by neighborhood regions and for each template page use anchor imagery that is known about the area. I had originally built the site out using basic PHP code which would call standard repeated modules in place. What I did not plan on was the team bringing on new personel who would be maintaing it outside of myself. So I had to rebuild this project again but using Wordpress as a CMS to quickly relaunch it and then teach their staff how to add new listings. As I used a WP plug-in to handle custom database fields so that the CMS did not overwhelm the interns who would be utilizing it.
