For this project I was brought in by a web developer to work on a re-design of this website. This was a rather great project to get into because I had a few years behind me working for a commercial real estate firm. Also their company colors were nearly identical to the former company I worked for that it was easy to jump into a design on this clients site that focused on New Jersey real estate near the ocean-front.

A typical visitor that will be seeking a property in New Jersey’s beach front properties are most likely: Beach Lovers, Retirees, Vacation Home Buyers, Boating Enthusiasts, Nature Lovers, Professionals + Commuters, Investors, Waterfront Property Seekers, Second Homeowners, Long-Time Residents, etc.
It's important to note that NJ coastline is diverse, with both bustling tourist towns and quieter, more remote areas, so the types of people who buy homes near the shore can vary depending on the specific location along the coast. Additional factors such as budget, lifestyle preferences, and individual circumstances play a significant role in determining who chooses to buy homes in these areas.
Throughout the iterative process of the high-fidelity comps were various revisions produced of components that made up sections of the site, header, footer, forms, and widgets. These were presented to the client for additional feedback so they could essentially pick and choose what they would like to build the site with.
Because I have dealt with real estate property sites in the past, felt I could quickly block out important components that need to be front and center on the new site. Based off the conversation we had with the client I already had a design layout in mind. Since the developer knew the client and closer to their content, their aesthetic taste and other NJ competing real estate firms, he was able to pull together some sample sites that exist. This helped with building out additional features to incorporate based on his suggestions. So after assembling my notes we had from the meetings I quickly began to mock-up the framework of the new website and then then move into high-fidelity comps.
We also added some new ways for the client to immediately request seeing the property rather than just by email. Since the pandemic my prev work experience showed clients wanting walk-thru either over the phone or on-site. Here they can specify. Or maybe they have a client who want’s to start a dialogue of finances or make an offer. These were options provided.
The company's existing logo incorporates about 4 colors that would be carried throughout the website. The older site utilized the same color pallet however we just updated some of the elements and other assets. To keep their branding a bit tighter and cleaner it was best to use a two-tone color logo across the top of each page and footer.
So who are buying homes near the sea shore of New Jersey? Well, from what we found in a bit of research, they come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of reasons for choosing to live within this coastal area. So with this information in hand we created persona’s cards to keep in mind who the audience is.

This project is a re-design of an existing website. During the review of it, it was decided that there was no need to change the site architecture with any additions or removal of pages. However we accounted for the existing pages and made note of any pop-up modals that appeared.
This project was a great break from working on many of the single property website projects that I was often more accustomed to. Also a business that focus' on properties near the shoreline that they want to showcase. It was great to have a chance to hear from the client regarding what features or aestheitic they were interested in and make sure we carry that out. In my work with my prior employer I was never granted that opportunity and it was rather refreshing. We also agreed that the hero section of the site would need to have a drone video to really capture the NJ coastline more-so than a static image which would pull things together nicely. We also had to keep in mind that most of the listings were not your averge house sales and were high in value so capturing the spaces with a lot of high-visual image assets that had a feel like a "lookbook" had to be kept in mind.
