• Influential TV + MOVIES that may have impact career path

Growing up TV was very much influential as tuning into content created and consumed online today. There are quite a handful of shows and movies that have influenced the way I thought about technology and art. I loved how well technology was weaved in and around the various storylines of these shows. Thought it was pretty cool to think that some things presented back then would become a reality in the future in indeed become realities of today! Also enjoyed the mystery side for some of these shows and the critical thinking process’ these characters go thru. Not to mention some of the shows clearly had a few leading ladies which was nice to see!

    TV / Streaming Series

Top series tied is probably the “X-Files” and “Mr Robot” for me. I love good investigation stories and the X-Files served up some great episodes. Although cringed when I was younger and in school, would often get teased by classmates about looking like Scully’s doppelganger! Although Star Trek: TNG is always a close favorite too. Only series that really held my attention to watch as I didn’t really get pulled into the other series within the franchise like DS9, GEN or VOY.

    Mr Robot (2015-2019)

Elliot is a brilliant introverted young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and vigilante hacker by night. He also happens to be suffering from a strange condition similar to schizophrenia which he futilely tries to keep under control by regularly taking both legal and illegal drugs and visiting his therapist. When a strange feisty young woman named Darlene and a secretive middle-aged man calling himself Mr. Robot, who claims to be the mysterious leader of an underground hacking group known as F-Society, offer Elliot a chance to take his vigilantism to the next level and help them take down E-Corp, the corrupt multi-national financial company that Elliot works for and likes to call Evil Corp, Elliot finds himself at the crossroads. Mr. Robot, who has personal reasons for wanting to take down E-Corp, also reveals that he already has one ally, an even more mysterious, secretive and highly dangerous shadowy hacking group known only as Dark Army. Meanwhile, Elliot’s childhood and only friend, Angela, who blames E-Corp for the death of their parents, tries to take down E-Corp legally by joining their ranks and trying to dig up evidence of their corruption from the inside. A wild card in this scheme becomes Tyrell Wellick, an unhinged psychopathic E-Corp yuppie, originally from Scandinavia, who has a very unusual relationship with his dominant and ambitious wife Joanna. After many twists and turns, Mr. Robot’s plan is finally put in motion – with catastrophic (un)intended results. But that’s just the end of the beginning of the real story… more

The comedic misadventures of Roy, Moss and their grifting supervisor Jen, a rag-tag team of IT support workers at a large corporation headed by a hotheaded yuppie. Roy and Moss, the two technicians, are socially inept geeks or, in Denholm Reynholm’s words, “standard nerds.” Despite the company’s dependence on them, they are generally ignored and considered losers. Roy’s support techniques include ignoring the phone, hoping it will stop ringing, and using reel-to-reel tape recordings of stock IT suggestions such as, “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” and “Is it definitely plugged in?”. Moss’s deep knowledge of technical topics is reflected in his extended, overdetailed suggestions, while he cannot deal with practical problems such as extinguishing fires and removing spiders. His shyness makes it difficult for him to relate to others, often leading him to cite bizarre facts, or dwell on himself and/or technology. When someone shows their ignorance about computers, he can be arrogant… more
